Collaborate with functional unit leaders (Registrar’s Office, Financial Aid, Bursar’s Office, Admissions, etc.) to identify, prioritize, and pursue opportunities for improvement. Onboard and utilize Banner Workflow as part of these improvements where necessary. Support campus staff with related data to better understand ways in which SIS can be maximized for efficiency and ease of both students and staff. Troubleshoot all technical issues.
The Student Systems Support Technician will be providing testing, implementation and training support to staff in various offices as part of the University of Alaska SIS Modernization Project. This position is part of the University of Alaska Fairbanks Office of the Registrar and will be joining a team with a diverse set of various technical capabilities who collaborate across units and departments. This position will require a high level of problem solving and identifying of technical issues.
This position will onboard Banner Workflow, as well as identify other areas in Banner Student Modules to help create process improvements and modernize the student experience. Additionally, an excellent candidate would be familiar with Banner, experienced with being part of a team who implement new software, including testing, onboarding, training and upgrades. This position must be able to work independently, have the ability to communicate effectively in writing, over the phone, Zoom or in person.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: |

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE: | Two years of experience – general Banner; advanced computer operations, theory, methods, practices and procedures; demonstrated experience working with enterprise systems and relational databases; technical writing. Previous experience working both independently and in a team environment. |

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or Management Information Systems or a related/equivalent field or an equivalent combination of training and experience. |
SALARY INFORMATION: |
This is a full-time, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule, Grade 80, based on education and experience. |
