This leadership position is part of Enrollment Services and focuses on achieving enrollment goals aligned with UAA’s current strategic plan. Enrollment Services is part of the larger division of Student Affairs and comprises the Office of Admissions, Office of Financial Aid, Office of the Registrar, International Student Services, and Military & Veteran Student Services. The Executive Director of Admissions provides key leadership and direction for areas of new student recruitment and admissions, utilizing a communication team to facilitate outreach that leads to an increase in enrollment and a smooth onboarding experience for new and transfer students. This professional will understand best practices surrounding admissions and recruitment and have a strong supervision background to lead and support a dynamic team toward a common goal of successfully bringing individuals from point of interest to matriculation.

Duties:
 
Analyze undergraduate admissions data to ensure enrollment numbers and targets are achieved. Undertake and lead initiatives that align with UAA's current strategic plan and 65% by 2025. Work with Institutional Research to develop and improve existing reporting tools to assess application volume and productivity of recruitment efforts to develop metrics to forecast enrollment. Review, leverage and interpret data to meet established standards in service levels, staff productivity and quality assurance. Responsible for utilizing data to identify, develop and implement strategies that result in quantifiable and measurable outcomes. Set targets. Manage recruitment and admissions funnel to ensure enrollment is within targets.
Lead communication team and strategic initiatives relative to print, mail, telemarketing, multimedia, web, social and digital media as tied to recruitment and enrollment. Develop marketing strategies for potential students with through consultation with appropriate campus constituents. Develop and oversee all correspondence related to admissions and recruitment. Lead all department planning to help improve internal workflow and process, customer services, responsiveness to internal and external stakeholders.
Lead, train, and develop admissions counselors. Plan, manage, and coordinate processes, program events, travel and relationships with high schools, community campuses, counselors, students, parents, faculty, and alumni. Ensure effective relationships with high schools and community campuses are established and maintained to smooth student transition and onboarding experience at UAA. Develop and implement a comprehensive and aggressive recruitment plan to include annual recruitment goals. Develop and cultivate partnerships with schools and community-based agencies both local and nationally to help promote the university to potential students. Work with campus leadership to erase barriers tied to admissions and develop strong college specific recruitment and enrollment practices designed to increase interest and enrollment with UAA. Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve project, performance and enrollment growth outcomes. Ensure University initiatives, goals, and priorities are reflected in the outreach message and work of the department. Advance integrated and comprehensive enrollment management strategies for the institution. Maintain and share intimate knowledge of academic programs and their admission requirements in order to effectively articulate them to prospective students.
Facilitate an undergraduate admissions organizational structure that highlights the importance of campus events, off campus recruitment, increasing diversity, guidance counselor relations, student ambassadors, and application evaluation. Ensure timely application processing. Regularly review admissions policies and procedures to ensure relatability with university goals, current best practices, recruitment and efficient application processing. Recommend policy changes to appropriate decision-making groups. Coordinate processing of applications for specific student groups with University departments (i.e. Graduate School, International Student Services, etc.). Communicate strategies, departmental updates and policy/procedure changes to department staff to ensure they are properly executed. Serve on campus committees as related to undergraduate admissions. Maintain compliance with all university admissions standards, and state regulations and international student admission procedures. Ensure security and confidentiality of prospective and current student information and records. Understand and abide by FERPA. Maintain membership in professional organizations (AACRAO).
Work closely with Associate Vice Chancellor for Enrollment services to lead an integrated marketing and recruitment strategy for new undergraduate students while overseeing a holistic admissions process. Research and analyze potential growth markets and incorporate into a successful marketing and recruitment plan. Contribute to and support a recruitment strategy which is inclusive of high school visits, college fair attendance, telemarketing, and off campus recruitment events, including key community functions. Form a cohesive, integrated and collaborative admissions and recruitment function. In consultation with Associate Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Services and others, develop enrollment goals and projections and collaborate with directors within Enrollment Services to achieve these goals. Implement and maintain working knowledge of current trends and best practices tied to admissions, recruitment and marketing to students. Provide strong leadership in benchmarking, innovation, change management, use of technology and continuous quality improvement.
 
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
 
Knowledge of best practices in college student recruitment. Advanced oral and written communication skills. Advanced computer literacy. Experience working with individuals from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds. Demonstrated management and leadership ability and superior demonstration of experience in motivating, supervising and evaluating the performance of direct reports. Minimally 5 years in supervisor role, preferred experience leading Assistant or Associate Directors. Ability to handle multiple demands on time in a calm and effective way. Ability to work with leadership within colleges regarding issues impacting undergraduate admissions. Ability to assess and evaluate the abilities, needs, and expectations of prospective students as they move from secondary to postsecondary education, as they move from one postsecondary institution to another, or as they return from a period of non-enrollment. Ability to clearly and accurately present the mission, goals, purposes and resources of the institution. Must have a strong commitment to student learning and development, contributing generally to institutional and other agency missions, and acknowledging that students play an integral part in mission delivery. Clear understanding of all aspects of recruitment, admissions, and records functions on a university, including knowledge of student college choice process and effective student recruitment practices. Ability to interpret and use data. Proven ability to manage a student service-oriented office environment.
 
Required Experience:
 
Progressively responsible and relevant experience in a college/university admissions/recruitment office at an accredited institution, including staff supervision and program development responsibility. Minimum of 5 years specific to admissions/recruitment work at an accredited institution. Advanced skills in higher education marketing, recruitment and communications. Experience with web and social media preferred. Thorough mastery of productive and efficient admissions operations processes and knowledge of best practices and national trends. Preferred experience working at large public university. Knowledge and experience with technology to support admissions and recruitment.
 
Typical Education or Training:
 
Masters degree or higher is required, preferably in Higher Education.

Position Information:

This position is a Grade 83, minimum $39.19/per hour, DOE, full-time, exempt, 12 months per year.
