The Associate Registrar provides senior level leadership to direct staff and ensure the continued development and implementation of best practices, clear policies, and defined procedures in the areas of Student Registration, Records, Graduation, Transfer Articulation, Scheduling, Concurrent Enrollment, Catalog, Degree Audit, and NCAA Compliance. The Associate Registrar represents the Registrar and the Registrar’s Office as directed on committees, task forces, and other strategic initiatives; provides high-quality customer service and champions customer service among staff; is responsible for various special projects; assists in coordinating personnel with office operations and duties; provides feedback, coaching, and direction to staff; cultivates a culture of continuous process improvement, a top-notch student experience, and overall student success.

Responsibilities

  • Lead staff in providing friendly, efficient service to students on multiple campuses and centers throughout the state of Utah. Assist in providing leadership in the professional development of staff and in addressing staffing issues that may arise.
  • Provide direct assistance and advice to the University Registrar regarding all functions of the Registrar’s Office. Assist University Registrar with projects including serving on committees or teams, provide project analysis and research, and preparing documents, reports, and presentations.
  • Direct the management of designated areas; ensure adherence to state, federal and University regulations and guidelines as appropriate for assigned areas; and assist with the development of new or modified policies and procedures for assigned areas.
  • Provide senior leadership with the major systems used by the Registrar’s Office, including Transfer Evaluation system, DegreeWorks, Acalog, Curriculog, Banner, and TouchNet.
  • Facilitate regular open conversation with senior administrators and faculty across campus, including Department Chairs, Academic Advisors, Directors in various administrative units, IT leads, and HR administrators.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree AND five years progressive experience in higher education.
  • Strong leadership philosophy backed by at least three years supervisory experience leading teams.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and leading trainings for diverse audiences.
  • Proven adaptability with new technology solutions, databases, and student information systems.
  • Demonstrated experience building positive working relationships.
  • Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret and apply various guidelines, policies, and procedures

Preferred Requirements:

  • Graduate degree in higher education or related discipline.
  • Five years progressive experience in enrollment management areas (Registrar’s Office, Admissions, Financial Aid, Academic Advising).
  • Experience with Banner, DegreeWorks, College Source, College Scheduler, Acalog, Curriculog, and/or ServiceNow.
